Google Analytics Alert “Destination URLS Not Tagged”

A client of ours sent us a screen shot of an Analytics error message that said “destination URLS Not Tagged” and after scouring the net to find a solution with out access to their Analytics we thought we’d share with you how to fix these tracking code mismatches displayed in this small but worrisome Google Analytics Alert.

What are tracking code mismatch alerts in Google Analytics:
These Analytics alerts that almost pop out with fierce prominence on the screen can scare the booyakasha out of any webmaster. However, no need to fret. These alerts are quite benign in nature, and aim to notify you that you have an Analytics account connected to and Adwords campaign that is serving ads with destination URLS that do not have the Google Analytics tracking code displayed on them.  This means all that buying of website traffic is a waste of budget.

Trevor Ayers from AweSEM Advice says

“Ignore the Destination URLs Not Tagged and Tracking Google Analytics Alert as well as the Tracking Code Mismatch Google Analytics Alerts.”

If you want the setting of your accounts to be the way they are It will not hurt your quality score or CTR. But remember you are not tracking activity on those pages and you may lose some data son some of your web traffic.
